House of Cards - Food to Eat While You Binge Watch

Everyone, hands in the air - the time has come. The Underwoods are back.

While real life has become even stranger than the fiction that is House of Cards (thanks Trump & Co), the world is still super excited that the Season 5 of House of Cards has arrived.

Can anybody believe we're on S5? I remember binge-watching the first one like it was yesterday... memories...

Anyway. Along with a comfortable couch or bed, soft blankets, fluffy pillows and decent curtains to block out sunlight, there's one other necessary for a Netflix binge - food. Lots of it.

Fans of the show will know that ribs are practically mandatory eating now, even if Freddie's Rib's shack is no more. A few years ago, Himself and Myself made it a mandatory part of our viewing of the initial episodes and it is now a beloved tradition. So I've included a recipe for some Sweet Barbecue Ribs below.

Given Frank's Southern origins, I recommend some authentic Southern Fried Chicken too. The recipe below was given to me by an honest-to-goodness Southern Lady when I lived in Washington DC, so it doesn't get much more authentic than that!

Now we can't forget about Claire. While there have been no stated food fetishes in the series, we can surmise that from her self-discipline and svelte figure that she's more of a salad gal than fried foods. So I think she would be a fan of my Summer Salad with Strawberries. It's sophisticated and stunning - rather like Claire herself.

Finally, for something sweet to finish it all off, check out my easy-peasy 3 step ice-cream. You don't need an ice-cream maker and you can play around easily with flavours. Win win!

I have to wait until tomorrow night to get my binge on as Himself is working late tonight (SOB), but I will definitely be dreaming of this food along with the first episode tonight...
