WAREHOUSE - The Best Steak in Letterkenny - REVIEW

Last week, myself and Himself got away for a little mini-break up to Donegal.

It was relaxing and lovely and despite the rumblings of a flare up in my IBS, we really enjoyed the few days away.

On our last night, after a rather disappointing meal the evening before in Bundoran, we decided to head out to Letterkenny for dinner.

Warehouse immediately caught my eye; it's polished, modern look stands out in the rather traditional town of Letterkenny. After a few minutes exploring, we decided we would indeed go with the first place we had spotted for dinner. We were beyond delighted that we did.

It's a very cool, paired back venue. Think New York loft with hipster lighting.

It's clear that money was put into the furnishings and fixtures and it seems like the kind of place you could happily spend with a few friends or, as we did, out on a dinner date for two.

We decided to split a starter to begin and went with their Chicken Nachos.

It can be hard to get nachos wrong but it takes something special to make them stand out. For these ones, the chicken was the star of the show.

Delicately cooked and then pulled, the was tender and had an almost smokey flavour to it. The nachos were warm and crispy, the salsa and sour cream fresh. Taking the effort to elevate something simple like nachos certainly got us excited for the main course.

We had decided to push the boat out and order their côte de bœuf for two people. Medium rare, as all steak should be!

It came with two sides of our choice (we went for garlic potatoes and salad), tobacco onions on top and pepper sauce.

It could not be faulted. It was a lovely cut of meat, beautifully cooked and perfectly seasoned. The pepper sauce was creamy and savoury and well balanced. The only comment I could make about the whole dish is that the onions didn't have any particular tobacco flavour, so I'm not sure why they were labelled as such and the garlic potatoes weren't very garlicky.

Also, there were olives in my salad (I detest olives). But when everything else was that good, these transgressions can be forgiven.

Himself had an Orchard Thieves and a Guinness and I had a peppermint tea after dinner. Our whole bill came to just over 60 euro and it was worth every single penny.

Warehouse is a really nice spot and they have some really good specials on - including kids eating free on Sunday's and 20% discount for nurses, guards and teachers on Monday's. They also have live music from 9pm every night.

If you're lucky enough to be in the vicinity, definitely treat your belly and check it out. I know we'll be paying another visit next time we're there.
