Aldi's Version of a Chopped Salad - The Bag That's A Bowl

I love salad's for lunch.

Not just during the Summer, although it is undeniably easier to feel satisfied eating one during the warmer days when you want your meals light and drinks cold. No, I am that odd creature who will happily munch on lettuce and romaine during the darkest days of Winter, often adding hot elements to provide comfort.

Salad is such an easy way of getting some fresh vegetables into you and when made correctly, will easily satisfy your hunger and cravings. Just look at the runway success of Chopped - Irish people have finally woken up to the wonder of salad. They're also paying a considerable amount on it.

So I'm very excited to see that Aldi have just launched their own lunchtime rival in the form of their Bag That's A Bowl range.

It's a three step salad process that Aldi is marketing as a cheaper alternative to expensive salad options.

First, you choose your leaves. At a cost of 65 cent, you can pick from: Spinach, Rocket, Baby kale, Duo leaf or Italian leaf.

Then, you choose your topping/protein option, at a cost of 99 cent. There are six choices here: Cajun Chicken, Roast Chicken, Shredded Turkey, Shredded Ham, Snack Size Mediterranean Falafel and Snack Size Moroccan Style Falafel.

Then finally, you choose your dressing for 59 cent. You can pick from: Raspberry, Avocado, Mango, Lime & Ginger or Asian style.

That brings a total cost of 2.23 for a top quality salad. Which is pretty much a game changer.

The Bag That's A Bowl is on sale in all Aldi stores now. I will be getting my hands on one ASAP and reporting back. If you've already had one, let me know!
