Best Sandwiches of All Time
Let us all take moment to give our thanks to the humble sandwich. Beloved of schoolchildren and adults alike, it's our lunchtime staple, our perfect picnic partner and blessed side addition to a bowl of soup on a cold winter's night.
Encompasing the standard to the fancy, there are endless variations and everybody has their favourtite versions. It's officially Winter and at this time of year, the colouful salads that filled my lunch box during the heady days of Summer get passed over somewhat in favour of comfort. Healthy, hearty, comfort.
I've decided to compile a list of my favourites - but now matter what way you slice it, the sandwich has always got you covered. If you haven't been feeling the love lately, let the below list inspire you to renew relations...
Meatball sub w/ Parmesan cheese

Ooh baby baby. There's nothing quite getting your gob around one of these (especially if you've a durty hangover from the night before). If you've never had one, get on it quick. Make sure the meatballs have plenty of tomato sauce on them and if you don't like parmsean cheese, swiss works just as well.
Pear and Serrano Ham

One of the more sophisticated options, this is a sandwich for upping your packed lunch game. The balance of flavours is pure perfection and if you close your eyes and sit beside the office heater, you can pretend your in the Med. Kinda.
French Dipped Beef Roll

I had the extreme pleasure of having several of these when I lived in DC and many more since when I've recreated them at home (check out the recipe here for an easy how to). Indulgent but so, so good. P.S it HAS to be served on a crispy french stick.
Ham & Cheese Toastie

The classic. The staple. The LBD of sandwiches. Not much else needs to be said, really. I'm off to make a toastie.
Roast Chicken & Stuffing

I firmly believe that for this sandwich to truly work, you need to use fresh roast chicken (preferably with cripsy skin), thick chunky bread and plenty of butter/mayo.
Pork & Apple Sandwich

They go together like shamalala- you get the point. The sweet and the salty, the ying and the yang. Make your Friday lunch fancy with this pick and watch as the office dejectedly rejects whatever they packed that morning.
Grilled Tuna Cheese

I have had this sandwich on more than one occasion for dinner. In all likelyhood, I'll probably be having it tonight as I binge-watch The Crown and pray Donald Trump isn't voted into The White House. Because really, in desperate times of comfort, only tuna cheese will do the job.
King Crisp Sandwich

KING IS BETTER THAN TAYTO AND I DEFY ANYBODY TO TELL ME OTHERWISE. Only gorgeous.

The concept of buying a crisp sandwich is depressing. The plastic knife and plastic bread don't do it for me. Making one is different. That is a sort of guilty pleasure and a good thing. A very good thing. Tayto though, not King.
