TO DO: Get Green Fingers For A Good Cause

(Story originally appeared in the Dublin Inquirer - good spot, guys!)

Have you got a bit of spare time this Saturday?

Well, if you do, get yourself over to Bridgefoot Street Community Garden for some dirt-splitting fun. Over the last while, the local community has been rallied by Richard Talpin to bring the community together by working on allotments to tend to the earth and grow their own vegetables.

In association with the Liberties Men's Shed, the garden is looking for more groups and volunteers to come on board and help out with the community garden that lies at the centre of the 20 allotments which people in the neighborhood care for.

Talpin is currently working on a mini-oven for people to cook the potatoes they grow in while also developing a bring-your-own-lunch cafe for people to sit and eat their own food while socialising.

On Saturday, Talpin has invited people to come to the garden between 12-4pm to sow wildflowers, bring their kids to classes such as make your own seed bombs and a talk about the importance of making Ireland more friendly to bees and bugs to nourish the land.

Plus, the weather is going to be dry and warm - so there's no excuse not to pop by for a bit before treating yourself to some grub in town (possibly some cookies from the Dublin Cookie Co?)
